At the 23rd 1300 the ARC-fleet of 225 boats takes off in Las Palmas and we again right in the middle. We start under Parasailor in the port and then along the east coast of Gran Canaria with a fair wind. On board our third man Michael Kurtz, who came in from Monaco a couple of days ago. Boat is full to the brim with food, drinks and new bait. The 25th we catch our first fish, a Mahi Mahi, who is savored the same day. The 26th we have a sea-swallow as guest and the next night a second one. Both have two days to relax in the shoe basket and then sent back to the air. The 30th we catch within two minutes two big tuna, 1.45 and 1.3 meters. 40 kilogram of the finest tuna-meat and after slaughtering we savor fresh sashimi with soy sauce and wasabi. The following days all variants are cooked and enjoyed. 4.12. we celebrate the day we have covered halfway with champaign and of course tuna tagliatelle. 40 kn squalls in the night, good to see in the radar while developing. The next days it is calm, windy, squally, a tropical disturbance has ruined the trade wind pattern. From the 12th on the winds blow again and the 15th we arrive in St. Lucia at 0800 in the morning. Three weeks on the ocean, hardly another ship in sight and time passed by so quickly with reading, watching, cooking and great conversation. After two days in St. Lucia Michael has to leave and flies home into cold Europe.
